North East caravan club donates money to charity

Funds raised by a North East caravan club is to be presented to the Right Worshipful Mayor of Durham, Councillor Mamie Simmons at Durham Town hall on Wednesday, November 17 for her charity fund.

The Freedom North East 2000 Caravan Club raised £624.72 at a three-day rally in June to celebrate the club’s 10th anniversary and raise money for charity with various events over the weekend.

Elaine Bell, Secretary of Freedom North East 2000 Caravan Club said: "The club did not have a nominated charity to support, but when the Mayor attended the celebration event and members heard of the charities she was supporting, they requested any money raised at that event be donated to her appeal fund."

Councillor Simmons added: "The club's donation to my charity appeal is very generous and I am grateful to everyone who took part in the fundraising activities. The money will be well spent by St Cuthbert's Hospice and Diabetes UK."

In previous years Freedom North East 2000 Caravan Club has raised money for a variety of causes including The Great North Air Ambulance and Hartlepool and District Hospice.
